This is the only majorly used writing system in korea so once you learn how to read each individual character u can read almost any book , text in korean , tho deciphering the meanings needs quite an effort. FYI korean also uses chinese characters , tho not so commonly. Chinese meanings and words have also been borrowed over. Fg or example , this word in chinese 音量 ( read as yin liang ) means volume of sound , and its meaning and word is borrowed into korean and read as 음 령 eum ryang ( i - u - m ry-ah-ng) see the similarities? The readings are quite close. Same goes for names. All koreans have chinese names. Chinese names can be easily converted into korean too by searching the korean reading of each character of the name and reading aloud as you would read a chinese name , surname first. E.G. 陈秀慧 chen xiu hui - is read as 진수혜 jin su hye ( ji-n soo hi-yeh). Meanings are also ambiguous since an phrase 수도 could have loads of meanings , and there are few chinese words put in to indicate it. RIGHT LETS START WITH THE FIRST ONE: ㅂ This has a "b" or "p" sounds as in " ba" and "pa" Usually when it is put on top or to the left hand side as in 뱌 or 빙(this is placed on top) it is read as "b".
